Bintou Sylla

Expert in aid localization.

Trained as a lawyer, specializing in human rights at the Facultés Universitaires de Saint Louis in Brussels. With over 18 years' experience in the fields of justice, protection and humanitarian coordination, Bintou has built up her skills both nationally and internationally. In particular, she has worked with the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office, UNICEF, UNHCR, Save The Children's Regional Office for West and Central Africa, OCHA and the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator.

For over 10 years, Bintou has been helping national and local authorities and NGOs to play a major role in the international humanitarian aid system and in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Bintou has worked in Belgium, the Republic of Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Rwanda, Cameroon and Niger.

Nadia Tourqui

Coach specialized in democratic governance.

With 18 years' experience in the international arena, notably the United Nations system. She has worked in Burkina Faso, the Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, New Caledonia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Senegal. Nadia has developed solid skills in :

Consultancy in policy and strategy development, and capacity building in political economy and governance (public administration, local governance, decentralization, elections, security sector reform, justice, human rights and governance assessments);

- Identification, design, implementation and monitoring/evaluation of development programs;

ASMAKAI Léa 

 Coach specialized in accountability

 

ASMAKAI Léa has a degree in human geography. She attended the Maroua School of Professional Agricultural Training, graduating with a Diplôme de Technicien Supérieur d'Agriculture, a Brevet d'Etudes Supérieures en Entrepreneuriat agro-pastoral and a Master I Science Sociale. After 8 years' experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection with several organizations, she acquired skills with the following structures: PLAN INTERNATIONNAL, MULTIPOLAIRE, BUCREP, HCR, OCHA, CARE supervising field activities. Currently a psychosocial assistant and president of the ALODDCAM association, she has carried out activities in the fight against GBV, baseline surveys to assess the impact of support measures on GBV among internally displaced host populations and refugees in Cameroon, case management of gender-based violence, psychosocial support and accompaniment, social cohesion activities through education, awareness-raising and several other activities related to the empowerment of vulnerable people.

Koenraad Van Brabant

Expert coach in programmatic and organizational management

Drawing on more than 25 years of work in unstable contexts. Koenraad has led numerous strategic analysis and planning exercises. Formerly co-director of the "Leadership" training course. He also led the development of an innovative course on "Effective Consulting", covering interpersonal and intercultural skills, understanding how organizations and businesses operate in a broader socio-political and economic context, organizational capacity building and change management. Focal point for strengthening collaborative working in coordination platforms, networks, coalitions and partnerships. It uses a variety of techniques and approaches ranging from facilitation, coaching and adult learning, to enable inclusion, participation, trust-building and convergence towards a results-oriented partnership.

Smruti Patel

Expert coach in aid localization

Smruti is the founder of the Global Mentoring Initiative (GMI). She has management experience in the business sector and has worked in and on humanitarian action since 1995. She was a member of the tsunami evaluation team for the multi-agency thematic evaluation: impact of the international response on local and national capacities.

In 2015, she was instrumental in putting the idea of the network (NEAR) on paper through to the launch of the network at the World Humanitarian Summit in May 2016. She is now actively involved in advocating for change towards a more local response. She is a member of the Charter4Change umbrella group and a member of the International Organizing Committee of the Alliance for Empowering Partnership (A4EP), a network of local and national organizations.

She was involved in research to develop a localization framework for the Start network, to assess and measure their localization progress. The "Seven Dimensions Framework" is now used and adapted by many humanitarian organizations and country teams.

She has also taught business English to managers in multinational companies.
